Astonishing Women you might not hear of….

Many astonishing women in the world ignite a spark in us that leads us to find our passion and our true self.

I am sure you guys have heard of Mother Teresa, Michelle Obama, Princess Diana, Oprah Winfrey, J.K Rowling, and so on, and no doubt they are incredible and extraordinary in their respective fields but there are lesser-known women whose stories are worth knowing.

Shiren ibadi :-

Ms. Ebadi is a Nobel laureate from Iran she received her noble prize in 2004 and became the first Muslim woman who received this prestigious award. She was a judge by profession and was dismissed after the 1979 revolution. After that, she continues her legal practice and now she defends people as a prosecutor.

She is a fundamental human rights activist and she especially takes care of the rights of women and children.

She wrote books regarding the succession in Iran and propose some amendments on the divorce laws to the establishment

She actively takes part in the reform movement in Iran as well as being a part of the establishment.

In 2009 she was exiled to the united kingdom. Forbes magazine lists her in the 100 most powerful l women of the year.

Alice ball:-

Science is often considered a male-dominated society. According to the United Nations, less than 30% of the research conducted worldwide is by women. Despite all these obstacles, some women managed to create their positions and made countless contributions to science.

Alice ball is the first African American woman who got her master’s degree from the University of Hawaii and became a professor. After that, she discovers the groundbreaking treatment of lethal disease leprosy and has a very little chance of survival.

First, she discovers the treatment of leprosy which is chaulmoogra oil but it is difficult to ingest but after that, while working as an assistant researcher at the Hawaii hospital she managed to make an easy injectable form of the oil and saves countless lives.

This treatment is regarded as the best medicine for leprosy until the 1940s. She was not able to claim her work because life did not give her this chance but fortunately in the 21st-century the governor of Hawaii considered her achievements and declared feb29 as the Alice ball day.

Margaret Chase Smith,

According to UN Women data, there is still 130 years to achieve gender equality if we observe the current status of the world

For achieving sustainable development goals we need more women in the government or the decision-making sectors.

Some women actively participate and make great contributions in the area of politics.

Margaret was born in Skowhegan, United States. She is one of the most influential women in public and serves as both the house of congress.

She is been congresswomen for 3 decades and also received her presidential award from the bush in 1989

At this age, she still talks with clarity and always puts her vision out in the public. She served the public as a senator for three decades.

There is a quote from her that states that

‘’The right way is not always the popular and easy way. standing for right when it is unpopular is the true test of your moral character”

Alice coachman:-

Alice coachmen is another lesser-known girl that clears hurdles for the coming generation and inspires those who seek inspiration.

She is a black American athlete and an expert in the high jump. her birthplace is Georgi, unite states

She is the Olympic medalist at the age of 24 and she was the first black woman to win a gold Olympic medal.

She grew up in Georgia and while in her growing years she faced a lot of hurdles and faced a ban on her training. but she managed to make her way out and continue her practice by using ropes and sticks.

After the winning Olympic medal, she continued her career and won 34 Olympic medals and nine halls of fame.

In 1996 she was honored as 100 great athletes of the Olympics.

Andrée de Jongh:-

Andree is also known as the degree was working as a nurse when the nazis attacked and invaded Belgium.

She saves hundreds of lives while serving as a member of the Belgian residence during world war II.

She worked as a volunteer in the red cross and organized safe places for the soldiers who are injured.

With the help of her father, she managed to build a combat line that works as a route from where she helped the soldiers to move out from the occupied territory.

The combat line helps 700 people to move out and she helps almost more than 100 escape at that time. After the war, she went to a concentration camp and volunteered her services throughout Africa till her retirement.

But unfortunately, her father is executed.
